Well, after taking up room in our garage for almost 6 months...it is finally outside and doing what it was made to do...

I still have a few mods to make to it, but for all practical purposes...She's ready to roll

That's the first I've seen someone use the bottom of the weber as a lid. Great idea.

Thanks for all of the nice comments...I'm still planning on putting straps or chains to hold the drums in place and will be putting a piece of 2" tubing in the center with supports...which will slide right into my receiver hitch on my truck...

A friend formed a 3/4" band that goes around the OD of the kettle. We then TIG'ed it to the lip of the kettle.

Thanks!

Great idea! I been thinking about a way to add a little mobility to my UDS's. Does the extra height make inserting and removal of the charcoal basket much more difficult?

Not really...even for my sleek 5'6" frame. There is a difference about 5"...but it is still managable.

Short answer..."NO"...
Now, make yourself some time and read this if you are seriously wanting to get into some UDS 'Q....

that looks much better than my setup (too lazy to finish it mod). i have to pick mine up or drag it. i kick myself every time i have to move it because it is not finished. No wheels and no good handle yet. still cooks good though.
