I had some finger food and beer for supper last night. http://www.theqjoint.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
The dove were some I harvested in the fall...the legs were given to me by a friend.
I marinaded the dove breasts in some Dale's marinade for a couple of hours...then wrapped the breasts in some of my jalapeno bacon...

Seasoned the frog legs with olive oil, homemade seasoned salt and some lemon pepper...

I smoked them with a bit of hickory...
and mopped the legs with garlic butter....

They were pretty tasty with a cold beer.

Looks great. Went gigging with an uncle a few times. Half the fun is catching them and the other half is the party to cook them up.

Laugh hell, imagine a crooked eyed farker with a depth perception problem stabbing at something that is afoot and a half away. Uncle thought it was a riot. Almost turned the little johnboat over. Was one of those ones made of cooler plastic. Lots of middle of the night fun.

Yes Vic, I make my own bacon. Here's a link ...
http://cowgirlscountry.blogspot.com/2008/12/making-bacon-part-3-cold-smoking.html
It's kind of in three parts... the curing, the seasoning before smoking and then the cold smoking. I shoulda made it easier to read!

I'll bet you raised the frogs from tadpoles in a little pond behind your house and hatched the doves under a pillow on your couch. Didn't you...go on admit it.
Amazing stuff!
