Has anyone seen or used one of these yet?

http://www.thermoworks.com/products/handheld/mtc.html

If you scroll down the page, there is a probe that is a 4 second probe, right below that is the 2 second probe, and right below that one is a 3 second probe.

The regular thermapen states: The Super-Fast Thermapen displays actual internal food or liquid temperatures in only 3 or 4 seconds.

So, my question is: If I am reading it correctly, why not get the MTC and the 2 second probe? There website price is $43 for the unit, and $30 for the probe.... total of $73. The thermapen is $89 on their website.

The way I see it is, if the Thermapen "burns" out for some reason, it is $89 to replace it, if the probe on the other unit "burns" out, it would be only $30.

Just wondering if anyone has seen or used one, and what you think.....

I know the hand held a one piece unit, where the MTC would be a 2 hand unit, other than that, it is FASTER, but only comes in one color...

Thanks,
Bill

The thermopen folds up and goes in your pocket. The mtc doesn't.

The MTC does not come in Red.(deal killer)

Why not get both?

I bought one of these, a rebranded sales giveaway unit. I only have a air/immersion probe. Thing is accurate but feel refresh rate is a little slower than thermapen but not much. Eventually will get a 2 second probe.

I also bought some type K probes off e-bay. They have stainless sheathing on wires. Will hold up better. Were cheap (2 for @ $10). Only need to install mini jack plugs which are also cheap. Here is what they look like. This is actually a RTD they shipped in error.
