I am currently unhappy with our Foodsaver.

We've had an on-again, off-again problem with bags losing their vacuum. The seal is most often good (and I'm the kind of freak that will double-seal a short space apart), but sometimes a rib bone will poke enough to pierce the plastic even when racks are halved and put facing each other with the bones on the inside and the curve outward.

Is there a heavier-weight brand of bag that will work with the Foodsaver?
Or do we just have to nut up and look into heavier-duty equipment? I wouldn't even know what to look for.

I'm no expert, 'cause there's never any left over ribs at my house!

I have heard, though, of people putting the ribs in a Ziploc freezer bag (it's pretty tough) and then vac seal it. Leave the Ziploc open, it's only there to prevent the punctures.

Maybe you could double Foodsaver bag it!

I have had the same problem. What I started doing is wrapping my ribs in cheap saran type wrap. Then vac them. I have not had any problem since I started doing this. This seams to be the cheapest solution I found.
