Been working on a control set-up for a Traeger I picked up. Finally got around to seeing if it works. Initial start up had 30 degree overshoot and eventually stabilized itself out. I installed a couple outlets in side of smoker since I had to cut power cord. Also used a 25 ft. cord.

Oh, I thought it was something different. Like what you loose as you grow old...

Does that controller have 2 outputs? You could add a cooling fan! Don't forget to set the passband and offsets. Just kidding, I work with Watlow controllers every day. My attempt at humor.

Auto tune Baby!

This one has 1 output which controls auger. I am using low alarm to control rod heater to light pellets ar start or event that fire goes out. After trial I might use high alarm to control fan on a hysterysis to control overshoot. Want to try it with a load of meat first.

Is it controling the auger or the fan or both. S**ts over my head, but would like to know more. Andy was talking about something like this on his Country Smoker.

Andy and i have been sharing thoughts in PM's. I thought he would have his dialed in by now. I wanted to get thing at least working for the Bash in May. Not sure we will have enough capacity!

Right now just auger. Andy has idea of changing fan speed. Hope he gets it working as I am more of a hammer dude than a Tron chaser. Electronics guys at work are advising me.

I would be interested in something like this for my Country Cooker Whole Hog Smoker.

We tested it like using the thermostat on the auger motor.... works great. The next plan is to use it to kick the fan speed down to low (similar to an IQ4 does).... we'll have to see how that does - if it effects the cooling of the board/hopper.

The weather has really hampered my evil genius pellet efforts. Looks like spring may finally bust through this week, so after GAB, I will have time to get it ironed out. Back to back contests now... for the forseeable future. I will definitely post results and pics once it is rolling!

Wait til you see the other mods we made :)
