This is way too tempting! Just bought a used weber kettle (22 1/2") in good condition with a brand new never used charcoal chimney for $20. gonna go get it now..about 20 mins from the house. i'm thinking using it for UDS mod.

Yepper, cost me $20 today as well. I picked up an almost new Brinkmann vertical square style smoker myself today....

Going to use it for a warming box on top of my firebox on my experimental smoker I am going to build.....

They took ebay away from me at work, now I just pray craigslist doesn't get added to the websense list.

Weber uses letters as serial numbers, you can find out when the kettle/wsm was made. That kettle has wooden handles so it a good few years old. You'll find the letter on the lid vent.
You'll notice one or two letters stamped into the vent dampers of all Weber charcoal grills. This is a code that represents the year of manufacture.

"In 1979, Weber started using a single letter to denote the year; in 1994, they switched to a two-letter code. Codes were not used prior to 1979."
Here's the list of codes and their corresponding values:

A: 1979
B: 1980
C: 1981
D: 1982
E: 1983
F: 1984

J: 1987
K: 1988
L: 1989
M: 1990
N: 1991
O: 1992
P: 1993
EH: 1994
EO: 1995
ER: 1996
EI: 1997
EZ: 1998
EE: 1999
DD: 2000
DA: 2001
DU: 2002
DT: 2003
DH: 2004
