I was reading the want ads in the newspaper yesterday, saw ad, Grill-Big green Egg, $25.00. Called the guy, it was 6:15 am, asked a few questions and made a hasty exit to go look at it. Turned out to be a Imperial Kamado No.4. It has a 16 in grill, needs new felt, new grill and some work on inside. Oh, did I mention that it cost $25.00?

You guys need to spend a little more time reading ads, yes, it was a great score, I plan to have it smoking by Sunday afternoon. I may even paint it Garnet and Gold for the my fellow alumni at Florida State, Roll Tribe! Go Noles!

Nice score. We expect more pics. If I recall, the older clay version like this can do quite alot like the newer ceramics. Just not the really high heat cooks. Swamp should be able to chime in more.

That is a farkin' sweet score!

But from what I understand, that is a Sakura Kamado, made in Japan and its at the very least about 40 years old! I have the large with an 18" grill. Does yours have a slide damper on the bottom or a rectangular plug?
Here is a pic of mine I got for $40.

Mine has a slide damper, and the topper like the one on the left. I'll post some more pictures. Did you have to replace the felt around the top? I also have some repair work inside to do. I think I'll have to place this in a table to make it more user friendly, just trying to decide what to cover the table top with, I was thinking maybe stainless steel. Cost may be the driving factor.
