This was AWESOME!! I want one BAD! It's a Wood Stone oven, not your average backyard cooker. This was so much fun and it was our lunch, each person made their own and cooked it, provided with the BBQ class that included the 4 meats.

For more info on Ricks oven check out this link

and search his articles it is very interesting! Burn it or Learn it!

Those Woodstones are nice ovens. Some of my restaurant customers have those and put out some good pizza.

Thing is, with the kamado in the back of that photo, you don't strictly need a wood fired pizza oven. Because the kamado is a wood fired oven. So is a BGE, or a Komodo Kamado like the one I have. They'll all handle the high heat and have the high degree of reflected heat that the Woodstone does.

Pizza at a BBQ class must be a thing. I'm teaching one at the Modesto (CA) Blues Brews and BBQ contest in May.

What did they say about sauce? I tried my first pizza tonight on a stone/weber kettle combo. It was good, but I think I used too much sauce. What's the ratio of sauce to slather?

In the third pic Rick is pointing to a readout of a thermocouple in the center of the oven, it was over 600* but towards the back was more like 1200* The pies cooked very quick and I spun it a few times. I've got a BGE and mine take @ 15-18 minutes. I like the smoky wood flavor I get with the Egg, but theres no way mine will cook as fast.

It actually flattened out when I took it out and set it on the screen. The peppers were my Martha Stewart touch!

The Secret Weapon-Sweet Baby Rays!

That is a good looking pizza! I agree with you on the sauce. Sweet Baby Rays is my favorite readily available sauce.

Is that KC? I thought it looked like Sweet Baby Ray's. So, that pizza oven is about a five minute walk from my house, I'm guessing that it's on the back deck, reckon they'll notice if I fire it up some night? There big dogs, alligators, ax murderers or anything like that hanging out in their yard?

we'll smoke u

Brian, this site offers a free .pdf ebook on how to build your own Pompeii style brick oven. You may have to join the forum or site first before the book shows up in your shopping cart as free. I downloaded it.

http://www.fornobravo.com/pompeii_oven/pompeii_oven.html

If I can ever get my outdoor kitchen project going I'm going to leave room for one of these ovens as a future project.
