I was thinking about smoking a duck. I have never done this, any suggestions how long to smoke it, what kind of wood is best, and what kind of spice rub would you suggest? Thanks for the help.

If it's in pieces, wrap it in bacon. I never done a whole duck though.

Interesting threads attached....I've never done a "store" bought duck, always wild and always in pieces. Very lean, dark meat, that's why I wrapped in bacon. It was always pretty good.

After reading that I am hesitant, although I will probably still try it. My friend smoked wild boar a couple years ago, I may give that a try. Thanks for the input.

Do the duck! I got plenty of meat off of it for a family of four.

The whole purpose of eating duck is the crispy golden skin you get from roasting. If you are set on smoking it, smoke for an hour or so then finish it on higher heat or rotisserie.
