Was out cleaning the shop tonite from the UDS build and have all the smoker's inside right now with the crappy weather.
Didn't realize that my woodworking shop has been taken over by a smokeaholic............
These have all been collected or built within the last year and a half....

You eatin kitty litter?
Oh, yeah. It's an epidemic here in this house. It just keeps spreading. Wifey says the meat bill is getting out of hand with 2 cooks in the house. She only allows one of us to cook on any given weekend.

I've got it bad too. I have my cookers listed in my siggy below, just got the second WSM. Working on building "The Creature" currently, and have plans to try a UDS afterwards. I get the shed and part of the garage for my smoker stuff, along with the patio to put the ones I am using. Fridge is loaded with sauces, pantries and shelves are overflowing with rub ingredients and varieties of purchased rubs. Drawers and toolboxes full of smoking tools. I have an EZ-up and an 8-ft table. Just bought a logo and will get a banner made. Signed up for my first competition and may do some others. My wife says I tend to be obsessive about things, and that I have been stuck on BBQ for a number of hte last few years. Due to her giving me "the look", I am holding it to one comp for right now. As soon as I get an opening though I'll be signing up for some more! MY Christmas gifts from a few different relatives the last 3 years have been gift cards to my favorite butcher. I use them up and still spend money on meat.
I know I'm being ridiculous, but I'm having fun and that is what is important. As long as I don't bankrupt us or forget the names of my kids, then things are OK.

This just makes me painfully aware that I probably have more kettles in my pit boneyard than the average "I got it bad" enthusiast. I'm having nightmares of the Pit Protection Society loading up their Vans with my "treasures" as the Sherrif stands by with a warrant and I'm pacing back and forth, wringing my hands muttering "Don't take my babies, they need me!!" While in the background the neighbors are shaking their heads saying "this should have happened a long time ago!" and "I hope he gets the help he so desperately needs".
I got it bad doesn't even begin to describe it! I'm having fun.

My wife has it bad...now realize that she was a vegitarian when we met & for the first 4 years of our marriage (it'll be 9 years married this year). On Wednesday night we had some left over pulled pork & my 2 kids had some left on their plates & before I could get a word out she had their food on her plate as she was stating you're not going to finish that...right?
My poor babies went to bed hungry :icon_smil

Just look at my sig...............and add a used vertical/offset that i just bought about two hours ago.
I got it bad. And I don't give a rat's arse what people say.
I heard the scoop away gives a much lighter smoke than fresh step. Great for fish I hear.
I always tell my wife, I could be involved in much worse hobbies!! This one keeps me at home and cooking great food. Since I do all the cooking, she can't complain about my hobby. If she does, she goes hungry.

Bubba, I was thinking of this exact type of post. I don't have that many smokers and grills, in fact I only have one for now. But today when I went to the slaughterhouse I got 25lbs of New York Strip, case of Brisket, case of fresh cut pork butts, and a side of bacon.
When I got home there was a box from Spicewine with my new Thermometer, the new woods for cooking, and the rubs and sauces. I was as giddy as a school girl.
Then to my surprise the briskets turned out to be the certified angus prime brisket!!!!! I was so happy I was clapping and grinning from ear to ear. My wife just shook her head. Prime brisket for the 1.60/lb! That's how you know you've got it bad.

By the way, Wing Nuts are allowed to have up to 20 cookers. Av fans eat tv dinners. (IMHO)

While I am not as bad as most of you, I do have the same "addiction."
Since receiving my newly found freedom (read: divorce) it has been tough. I used to keep my smoker and all of my BBQ related goodies in the garage but now that I live in an apartment I have been forced to place all of that into storage.
BUT GOOD NEWS! A garage just came available at my apartment complex. One of my buddies is going to do that epoxy garage floor coating stuff for a brisket and when it dries, all of my BBQ stuff is coming home. On weekends that little garage will look like a BBQ shack!
I have no real friends in the complex but when that hickory smoke starts wafting its way through the parking lot I imagine I might just meet a few!
I'm going to get my electricity from the double outlet where the garage door opener plugs in and run a television set and lighting. I'll be cooking every weekend for no one in particular. I'll stock up on "take home" boxes and offer up some grub to whoever stops by.
I might even do a freebie cook for "new friends" on Superbowl Sunday!
Am I excited? Um...yeah.

I had one grill, the Sunbeam gasser, before Christmas of 2006. That's when I bought my BGE. Since then I have added the others and am up to six grills along with a bunch of Lodge cast iron gear.

Well - I've got it - been thinking about turning down weekend dinner invitations so I can cook instead.... that would be bad... maybe.....

I'm not affected by any of this at all. It's all under control. As long as the smoker goes no more than 7 days a week, I figure I'm in control, and not the meat, not the wood, not the smell of sweet blue smoke, not the aroma of slow cooked foods, not........ Oh, OK ....I got it bad!

Did ya ever stop to think that maybe it's them that have it all wrong and we're right. Ya we're the sane ones. Who else would stay up all night tending fire, chasin beers, getting gagged by smoke, burning your fingers, slicing a finger, just to provide supper for your klan. It's the man's responsibility to get the meat, cook it, and serve it. He is the provider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is anyone following my rational?
When my wife and I discuss BBQ and related things (acquistions), and I feel like my toes are dangling off the edge and I'm about to lose my footing. I calmly reminder her of the fact that, SHE BOUGHT ME MY FIRST SMOKER. I win, well sometimes, I think. Ya I got it bad.

between both mobile pits I've got $40,000 in cooking devices (not counting the kitchen remodel on which I just spent $11,000 in appliances), $35,000 in a truck to pull it and probably got another $10,000 in "stuff".
Now, this has obviously turned into a paying venture, but my banker sends me a Cristmas card, and it's not like he and I are old friends or anything.........

About 13,000 if they don't add the sides. If they add beans and slaw or potato salad, it's about 11,000...........I've been at it 3 years, and with a little hard work, this should be the year we get out from under the truck and trailers, assuming we have a business level similar to last year. Won't know how to act if I actually get to keep a little of the income......

I love your set up! Nice to see the pits that burned the hand harvested Wisconsin nut and fruit wood!
All you guys, I'm so farkin jealous! Y'all got such nice looking set ups, and dedicated buildings. SWEET!
My stuff sits behind the garage, well cared for, but out of sight. I have to walk on grass and mud when I want to cook.
How bad do I have it? I have all 3 of my boys trained to scope out peoples backyards for pits when we drive through a town. I can't see both sides of the road!
