A while back someone posted a WSM that they mounted a worktable using garage door handles. Does anyone have a picture of it? Several coworkers have ordered WSM's and would like to do this. Thanks.

What is the issue with them? Thanks.

I never had any problems with it, but as I said it's not meant to hold much weight, a remote probe, tongs, gloves or a spray bottle. I wouldn't set a plate of meat on them, hell they only have three legs and top heavy at that! I don't use it any more since I mounted them in the cart, but it did come in handy. In all honesty I don't really think its practical.

My problem was...the bas of the bracket, that attached to the feet was made for the round tubing of the kettles, too big when bent, so had to jury rig it. Second, the li[ by which it caught the top edge of the middle chamber also caught the lid every time you opened it. Just annnoying. Took some tinkering and playing with and then finally I just a small table out there and used it. Would'nt trust more than a thermometer or spoon on it though. Scott.

Patrick, do you have a wsm?
Also, shouldn't there be some sort of tri angular brace?

Or a leg that runs to the ground, even if the ground isn't perfectly level it's still practical.
I like it.

I was tempted to try something similar to the Weber kettle side table, I had been using the the kettle tool hooks and it was a PITA every time you opened the lid, so I nixed that idea. I wanted something removable and the handles provided a 2 point installation, as opposed to mounting the brace to the leg of the WSM. The wood I used is really too heavy, it was some leftover cutouts from my Egg table and stuff I had laying around, I found some 1/4" tinted Lexan that I planned to use but kinda lost interest in it. I got a lot of good input on this, a lot of people suggested legs on the tables, and Chris Allingham featured it on the WSM Homepage this past summer.

I just wheel my kettle over that has the weber table on it and use it for the probes and what not. or my charbroil bbq cart i got last march. I wish i would have saved my frame from the gas grill and made the cart for it.

This is my method right now exactly!!
It don't look like anyone came up with a source for garage door handles. The handles like I used on my UD might work for a WSM. And they fold flat.
As for side table, it's relatively easy to build one. Mines a scrap pine table top with a poly finish.
