My wife and I went to the Findlay Market in Cincinnati... Kroeger & Sons are known for their sausage, and here are some shots to prove it (I got about 8-10 different kinds to try tomorrow).

Fresh kielbasa, smoked kielbasa, Chicago sausage, with different stuff in it, lamb sausage, chicken with olives and artichoke hearts, Italian, Napa, a couple German types, Reubenwurst, with corned beef, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing... And a couple more that I don't remember.

Looks like the best of the wurst . What a great selection. I really like chicken sausages and I have made the reuben sausage too. It's not bad on a bun, but I actually liked it as a main meat with a side of boiled potatoes, cabbage and carrots.

Please let us know if there are any particular "stand out" flavors you notice on any of them.....especially the lamb sausage.

Rick, I've been in downtown cincy for 2 years working, and this is my first trip there ever... It's pretty well kept up. I even had some pretty darn good ribs from Gant, aka Mr. Pig. He's 82, rides the bus downtown every day, and cooks barbecue that's pretty tasty.

The couple that came up behind us were ready to order, so I told them to go ahead. Gant stopped them and told them we were there first, but I told him it was ok. He said he was 82 and wanted to live another 82 years, but if people couldn't be respectful, he was ready to go now... He said he just makes sure people show respect when they come up to his place. A very nice man, and one that enjoys what he does.

That is awesome. Looks good too. I think I'm adding that to my beer run stops next time. Character goes a long way when it comes to a place you want to eat.

Nice downtown shot!

One thing my wife and I both noticed was how nice everyone at the market was. We got some cobbler from a woman that's been on Martha Stewart... Really nice lady that just makes good stuff. The guy working her counter couldn't have been nicer if someone had paid him double. The market is in a rough part of town, but you'd never know it.

Curt, I hope you realize how good you have it with a joint like that. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING here compares to that.
And I can tell you, I would have liked Mr. Gant just by the way he was dressed. The man has style.
And if you would be so kind, please post pics of the Ruebenwurst when ya cook them, hmm?

Gant is a true gentleman. He cooks with Kingsford and agrees that the old Kingsford is better for barbecue. He'd like to use wood but can't where he is.

We got some stuff at some of the shops for dinner tonight. I almost wish I'd never gone to the place, as it's so much better than I'd expected. There's even a Belgian waffle stand where the guy went to Belgium to learn how to make the real thing. They're FANTASTIC! There are several meat/deli places, too, and we got some soppresatta, dry cured Spanish chorizo, a baguette, olives and a stacked cheddar from England that's made up of cheeses from 5 different counties... I've got to make an English 5 County burger now.

I quickly fried the chorizo and soppresatta in duck fat.

The Reuben Sausage... Quite spicy, actually, and very soft, which isn't a surprise, but the flavor was good. Photos were very blah, but here are the rest of the sausages after done. I wrote what each was with a sharpie on foil, then folded it over so it would be legible still.
