I don't know of a better bean recipe. It uses easy ingredients, leftovers and it taste great. Best "canned bean" fixer-upper recipe I know of.

Do yourself a favor and double or triple the recipe - that's how good they are.... I made them last week for the first time and will be making them again tomorrow...

OK, did these for the first time last night.
I didn't add the bacon or the green pepper.
I happened to have Blues Hog sauce that I used. There is something about the flavor profile of that sauce that I don't like. I can't tell if it's cinnamon or what. Whatever it is it overpowered the beans.
I will definately make these again, but not with Blues Hog. And it needs the bacon too.

We made these beans yesterday. It was our first time, and I have to agree with all the threads I've seen. Those things are awesome. I almost felt bad as everyone was bragging more on the beans than on my meats.

Help quick. Should the beans be covered in foil when in the oven?
Thanks

I cover them for the first part of the cook then open them up, sometimes we set them under the broiler. The thicknes on the top is the best part

Wait till you have the leftovers! They are twice as good trust me on this as right after dinner I pack them for my lunch before the wife gets her hanfs on them.

Yep could make a meal of just beans and bread. I used Del Monte peaches that come in a mason jar once cause they were there. Also a good flavor.

I used a honey BBQ sauce with some trappys hot sauce added. Mixed it together and had the 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce. Worked out great.

Has any brethern made the Hog Apple baked beans and the Jack's Old South Peach Baked beans and compared them?
I would be interested in knowing how they stack up against each other.
It would take my family of 3 a month to eat all them beans if I did the research. Maybe a brother that caters can try it sometime?:?:

I have done both and love them both equally!
I suggest you look at the "commonality" of the recipes and build a version you are happy with.
I use a combination of both and never have leftovers!
The peach does seem to put the flavor over the top most of the time, but apples work fine also.
It's all good.

Never had Cholula. Use Tapatio all the time. One of my favorites. Always keep several bottles in the pantry along with the one in the refrigerator.
