Gents, I've just tried to order some Buckboard Bacon cure and Original Jerky cure & seasoning from Hi Mountain and there order page doesn't want to deal with me. I ge tthe messgae that no shipping method was selected, there may be a problem with my address etc, contact my administrator. So I went to their online help page, set down a quick message to their sales team, tried to send it but keep getting the message 'make sure your zip code has at least 5 characters in it', which it does? All I can assume is that there is a UK/US postal address translation problemas their webpage states they ship to the UK, but I can't get in touch to tell them because their help page won't let me:frown:
Can anyone either (a) contact them on my behalf and ask how one goes about shipping to the UK or (b) would anyone be good enough to allow me to order to their house then they forward to me, obviously having had the money sent to them up front via Paypal or similar?
Alternatively, how difficult is it to make your own BB bacon/Jerky cure?

If you decide not to make your own......you can try to contact them about shipping abroad. Or I would be happy to help you out and order and send it to you.

Thanks gents, I'm at work right now so I'll try faxing them!
I'll probably also look at the D.I.Y. option.

Here's a thread on Jerky. Couple of home brewed recipes to try in it.

They don't like our postcodes. Try and call or send the webmaster a line.

I'll be glad to help you out. I live in Wyoming and the Hi Mountain seasonings are readily available in many stores, especially the Buckboard and the Original jerky and the Garlic Peppercorn jerky which is my favorite. Let me know what you want and the best way to ship.

That's very cool that you can find it in local stores. That's my one big beef with them....thier shipping charges are the just about the same cost of the product!!!

Whatever you do it's best to ship it as a 'gift' when you fill out the customs form.

Right you are Sled. It also just occured to me that I always order from Hawgeyes quite a few times a year and they carry alot of Hi Mountain products as well including the BB bacon cure. And the shipping always seems more than fair for all the chit I get!!! This also might be of interest to ya'll abroad as he also carries a chit load of great rubs and sauces as well...things I can't find locally either. Here is his website..maybe see if he is willing to ship abroad and order yourself's up some of the rubs and sauces you here us talking about all the time.......Just a thought..

Browser,

Okay, the buy is out of the way, I told you that would be a snap. I'll get it boxed up and to the post office either Monday or Tuesday.

We'll be expecting a review of the "Bourbon BBQ" flavor. I didn't know they made that flavor....

You don't by chance work for a bank and have an account with millions of dollars in it that you need someone from th US to claim and split with you do you?
Just kidding.... Glad things worked out for you.

No, but I some cheeky bint in Nigeria e-mail me, having got my address from another forum I'm a member of, offering me that self-same deal! Oddly enough, I didn't take her up on it.......

3I,

Glad you helped out, as I would have.

I just found this thread (way behind mod)

When you send, clearly mark the International Postage Customs certificate as "Gift" with a description of "barbecue seasonings"

Put the declared value in USD, and mark "GIFT" on the box address like:

A GIFT for:
Mr Browser (and his A-Hole neighbor)
123 mockingbird lane
etc

I sent stuff to Carbon, and they have a Value Added Tax (VAT) that is different than how we tax stuff in the US

Yup when we get things sent over if it's not marked gift we get hammered bigtime. I had to pay 290.00 pounds for a Hilti I already owned but forgot to ship.

Just check the box on the customs slip.

Anyone wanna ship us some Grits? I'll gladly pay for them and return the favour.

That was one thing this country boy had heard about. Strangely enough, the clerk at the post office also mentioned the same thing. Thanks for the reminder.

3I,

Mr Browser (and his A-Hole neighbor)

I hope to hell my neighbour never stumbles accross this forum!!!:-D He actually spoke to my wife, more than once, the other day:eek: Mind you, he had to, my daughter was at his son's birthday party:grin:

Last time I cooked was New Years Eve, there was barely a breath of wind, guss which way the smoke drifted? Thaaaaaats right, over their garden!! I think I'm gonna hafta move house 'cos the prevailing summer winds here are from the South West, and his house is directly North East of my back garden, right ovet the fence, so any cook smoke is always going to go that way.:frown:
I weill try the 'placation with a rack of ribs' trick once the Browser UDS is up and running but somehow I don't think I'm going to make up much ground.
Thanks again for your time & trouble 3rdEye.:-D
