Thanks Mark for the heads up. Does anyone own this model already and, if so, could you tell me what the inside dimensions are on the lip of the lid? I was eyeing this model and the next size up on the internet this past month but haven't called the store to see if they have one in stock that I could look at up close and personal.

Not sure if all stores have them but this last weekend i had noticed Lowes in Bullhead had a simular Grill clearance for $14.77. Kick myself for not getting a couple.

That's because 14.77 is about all that those farkers are worth.

I haven't bastardized that particular grill (yet) but have cut the lip off the bottom of a couple Happy Cookers and Sears "Economy" grills that that are basically Weber clones and they fit just fine Thank you! Seen similar grills on craigslist and wallymart branded as Thermos, Kingsford and Char-Broil.

My thought was if you were to pay $10-$15 for a weber grate, why not buy it for the $15 get the grate and used the charcoal grate, plus the lid and threw the rest in scrap pile it might be worth it.

Yes, it think that it is worth it for that.

Picked on up 1 of these for my new UDS. They had a weber setup so I took the lid from the clone and it fit perfectly. When I got home I found out that it did not fit my drum :( my drum is a 34" tall drum. it is to small.
but if I cut the rolled end off the open end of the drum it will fit so I have a decision should I cut the roll or build 2 drums 1 with flat lid and one with dome lid Humm.

i think one of the brethren used the kettle of the clone cut about 2 inch down from the top of the kettle and then set that section inside of the UDS upon which the top sat. i think hope this helps. just my .02 good luck:-D:cool:

Anybody know where they are made? I don't like sending money to China.

I'd rather pay for the weber grate, I'd almost guarantee it is going to last 10 times as long as the one from the 15 dollar grill
