My wifes birthday dinner yesterday. I used Phil's recipe and smoked a 8 lb prime rib. It turned out great. Here's a couple of pics:

WSM getting the coals hot for the first high temp session:

Just before I moved to lower rack and lowered temps.

Forks/knives started flying too fast to get any more pics before we ate. This is what was left over. More done towards the outside than I prefer but i had my in-laws who want med. Middle was nice and med rare. I had a couple prime sammies for lunch after golf today and it was excellent!!

Cooked like Phil had posted for the WSM. High temps~ 400 for 15-20 minutes then shut up vent's and dropped roast to lower grate, then ran at 270ish for the next 2 1/2 hours or so. Seared at the end directly over the coals for another 5-10 minutes. I pulled at 128 in the center.

Oh Yeah..Sorry bro for no description...That is grass that still needs to be cut every week. The view across the lake is where the space shuttle's flight path is. I'll have to post some of the pics I have of it.

Good looking Prime Rib Chief. Where I live the gras just stops growing for a few months (bermuda grass mod). With all you guys getting shots of your Prime Rib in, I am starting to get nervous:eek::icon_bigsmil

Two years ago totally screwed up a Prime Rib for Christmas dinner. Family won't let me try again. I suppose I'm going to have to do one during the year to try and prove I'm worthy for Christmas dinner again.

Your dinner is inspiration to try again.
