View Full Version : What a Saturday!!! With Pics

As my wife had to be gone all day on Saturday, I decided to do some bonding with my WSM and make Chili for a contest at the local Vets Club (More on that in another thread, you won't want to miss it!)

I actually started the day by cutting up 4 whole hog bellies and getting them rubbed down with cure. I think I ended up with around 12 4-5 # slabs. I forgot to take pictures of this .

Anyway I then fired up the gasser and charred up some pepper to begin Thirdeye's Green Chili recipe.

Then Scott from We'll smoke you showed up for a photo op with the chili (he is always trying to get into photo's tv, radio i.e. media ho mod)

While this was happening, I fired up my WSM and put a chicken rubbed with EVOO and rubbed with Plowboys Yardbird Rub and a corned beef for pastrami. And a 18 # prime rib. Was going to make a sourdough rye, but the day got away from me.

After all that was done cooking, I put som e jalapeno's on to smoke.

After a few hours, they went into the dehydrator. Smelled awesome!

Then had some red bells and Habs out of the garden waiting to be turned into jelly (did that Sunday)

By now you are all going this thread is carp without proper pictures aren't ya???? Well there is a reason I didn't get pics of my cook keep reading!

You see about two o'clock MY NEW SPICEWINE ARRIVED!!!! OK it is new to me. Can you tell from the picture below who I bought it from. I know it is kind of hard to find in the picure but look hard.

Yep under the cloak of secrecy Bill and I came to terms and he and Dianne showed up on Saturday with our new baby. Here is Bill, Rudy the dog and Scott unloading.

Here is Scott and Bill and Dianne (Scott is trying to figure out how to load it on his truck by himself)

And here is the new guy in his temporary home. Char and I have named him the (green) Hornet.

So sorry about the lack of food pron. Had other things on our mind Saturday!!!!!

Nice score!!!!!! So are you and the Hornet going to compete?

That is up in the air, seems a shame to leave that at home and go compete without it, but our Backwoods Party has been really good to us.
