1 is for sure the other, not sure yet.....

Neighbor has a dead (standing) apple tree that is going to come down this weekend.

The in-laws had a large tree go over last night that has to be cut up. Not sure yet what kind it is, potentially Maple  or might be Elm

As long as it isnt a silver Maple it should be a candidate for the smoker, right?

I was afraid Silver Maple would be to soft and burn pretty fast. Now lets just hope it isnt an Elm.

Just be sure to let it age this winter. If you're cutting this weekend, cover with a tarp and it'll be ready for smoking around March or April...

A lot of the Apple was standing dead and some of it had been trimmed. I have some that I can use now and some for later, either way, I have a pretty good stack!

The Maple is going to have to wait until next weekend. My FIL doesnt use it much so I am probably going to have a couple of truck loads!! :D
