Howdy folks...

A couple of weeks ago, i stumbled across a really cheap "Landman"-brand smoker on EBAY.

It looked pretty much like a GSOM, so i couldnt resist and bought it.

Its ~ 40" high and has 3 grates (about 15" x 15"), a water pan and a charcoal pan.

I´ve been through charcoal pans like that style for way too long with cheapo brinkman and meco Smokers, so i knew the coals would extinguish themselves with their own ashes.
I needed something better, and then i had the idea to put a char griller Side Fire box to one side.

Made some extra holes, but basicly the airflow is limited by the exhaust anyway, wich is the same size as the original intake where i put the sfb on.

I took an old Weber Gas Go anywhere flavourizer Plate and drilled holes for screws wich would hold it. Well, i didnt measure right and it goes down about 1" to the left side.
At least the drippings wont flow towards the firebox.

Because the firebox was in the way of the legs, i had to remove them.
Found an old SS Bowl in the kitchen, drilled a hole inside in and the firebox bottomn, and i have a new "leg"

There it is :

Found an old unused grate, so i have a total of 4 15"x15" grates.

This sure aint the best looking cooker around, but at least its rare...

I expect it to be a nice extra cooker for sides, for cold smoking or drying peppers and stuff.

I´ll do a burn in and test run tomorrow.

Nice find and mods, cool pictures. It may not be the prettiest cooker on the block but who cares, it's unique to you. Make sure to take some pics of your first cook.

I alway have to chuckle at Brinkmann's temperature gauge. What, exactly, do they consider to be "ideal"?

On my brinkmann's "ideal" was in the neighborhood of 400* at grate level with a good thermometer.

I cracked up when I saw that you used a bowl for a foot. Looks like it works pretty well but I just dont know how you will mix anything in the legs you have leftover now? :-)

Way too clean! I guess when you keep it in the house it stays that way. :-) How did you get just the fire box?

Be careful not to scratch that beautiful wood floor that the cooker is resting on or you will be in the dog house, if you know what I mean!!!

To be on the safe side, you should probably move it outside.

put bicycle handlebars on the side of the smoker box and a caster in place of the stainless steel pan and maybe you can move it outside.

For those of you who haven't seen DM's Cattle Call post, you should go look at it. Apparently, this German knows a little about Q.

Man, that's some great ingenuity. I'd love to see pics of it in action and hear reviews of the food that comes off of it.

Good luck with it.

I'm still smilin..
Some people should cobble and some people shouldn't!!!
With that bowl for a leg it looks like one of them dogs that lost its hind legs and uses some wagon wheels to get around.
And if you'd drink less your drip pan would be closer to parallel.
All that being said... Sir, your smoker will smoke!!!!

Nice mods ... in fact ... it's has a familiar look to it. I do like the look of your baffle ... what kind of material is that?

Wow Biffleg

What are your experiences with that setup ? Do you use a big GOSM ?
Seems like its heavy enough to stand on its own (without a bowl )
Does your entrance from the firebox let enough air flow ?

That "Baffle" is the heat shield of a weber gas go anywhere portable gas grill.
Its porcellain coated.
