been rebuilding my BBQ, and got it all back together yesterday and decided I'd get it as hot as I could. I put all four burners on high and let them go for a good solid half hour or more. I got it to about 610 degrees, but that was it. Does that sound about right? Would I get a good sear off of that do you think? How hot does your GAS grill get up to?

I have a three burner from Sam's the middle size one they sold about 5 years ago. it runs at about 600 degrees if I turn all three on high I can get a little more if I turn on the radiant heater on the back.

Well svirfnebli, it depends on the gas. There was a video clip on here once that showed some nerds grilling with liquid O2 that was pretty impressive.

I've got a 100,000 Btu/h burner on my "Weber on steroids" and I've cranked it up to 500 for grilling pizza. Basically, I've gone as high as I need to. Never got the urge to test it. Anyway, for higher temperatures, I use a ceramic kiln but not for Q.

600 will do anything I would want to do on a grill.
Mine goes 500 plus then I pull it down to actually cook in the 400's.

Mine can get up to 600 or so, but I like to add some wood chips in there for smoke and when those ignite I can get up to about 800.

Heard of a gas grill, never seen one in person though. I think it might just be a myth.

My Genesis Silver tops out at 600. Takes about 10 minutes to get there.

My Weber gasser will hit 700 easily if I turn all burners to high. My El Cheapo coffee roasting gasser will hit 600 easily.
