Went to sis in laws. My bro in law (her brother), was cooking. (He and his Okinawan wife like to eat, and have traveled around the world to do so at good places) He got some wagu beef flank, ribeye, and another cut, plus sliced pork belly and chicken skewers just for the yakatori grill. Served with a few different types of Japanese sauces. Brought his little yakatori grill for appetizers, and used the green egg and griddle for the main meal of grilled yakatori chicken and veggies. It was tasty!

Yes he did. Japanese charcoal, and just to make it more fun he had the yakatori head wrap too :laugh:. My sis in law from Japan, had the rice cooking, and made sure we had different sauces (all bottles labeled in Japanese) ready to eat when the food started rolling off the grill.

Titch, if they go anywhere near you, I will have to come along. A walk-a-bout near you is on my bucket list!

I’m pretty sure this is the way it’s supposed to be done
Bet that was fun

My bro in law is a character. Marine for 8 years and very structured. He ate a big lunch because he was prepared to just cook, snack a little while he cooked, and maybe eat after everything was done. 11 or 12 of us hung around and between the kids in the pool and us grabbing bites and shooting the breeze, that was one of the most fun BBQ's we have had.

I think I'm in love with that grill. Who makes it?

They told me it was a cheap $20 grill off of Amazon. He added that he isn't a huge fan because of the charcoal sitting on the bottom, with no room for ash to fall. It is pretty though

I'd love a decent looking little grill like that. I've been looking , but haven't found just the right one. I'd probably put a cooling rack or something similar down there to elevate the charcoal a tad.

I fabricated 4) Konro boxes for Yakitori grilling a few years back. Great little cookers for skewers;

Those cookers are sweet! Do you make 'em for people or just you?

At the time, I made one for me, and gave away the other 3 to friends and family.

Actual, personal, Japanese Konro boxes are insulated.

These are not, just steel, they get hot, but that's what they're supposed to do...:mrgreen:

I'd like to try that. Looks really good and sounds interesting. Over my pay grade, but interesting...
