I got one of these for Fathers day. So far I am impressed. I wish the case was made a little better, but for $30 it couldnt be beat. I also got a 7" santuku knife from a local supply house. not a bad fathers day

Teach them young. My daughter has been chomping at the bit to cook pork chops in the kids division. Since we started practicing, they haven't had a kids division. Her first shot at glory will be next month in West.

Looks nice. I didn't know what it was, but looked it up, looks like it works well. http://www.furitechnics.com.au/Ozitech/ozitech_main.html

I am terrible at sharpening knives, so have to use something pretty foolproof.

That looks interesting. How well does it work?

I use one of these with EXCELLENT results.

Anyone else want to chime in on how they sharpen their knives? I'm kind of obsessed with keeping all of my knives as sharp as possible...

Okay,
Sharpening 101 question

Does this take the place of one of them "honing" sticks, or as an accompaniment to it?

I think there is a thread here on sharpening, versus honing, where I learned that I am not actually sharpening my Henkels with the stick, merely honing the edge back

Jared, I have a Lansky system like that but am too lazy to go thru all the steps.

I use a Crock Stick right now, always looking for another way...easier and better.

There is a thing out is this part of the woods that is nothing more than a carbide saw tip that is attatched to a metal handle. It basically whittles an edge on the blade. It does a hell of a fine job too. especially for 10 bucks

I have the full Ozitech kit and it is great. I also use the Furi knives (same company) and have never had better knives
