This past Friday we decided to satisfy our Disney craving by creating our favorite meal from Cafe Orleans but with a bit of a twist that made it easier to make at home. The Monte Cristo French Toast with Pomme Frites.

Gather all the ingredients: Bread, Ham, Turkey, Swiss cheese and egg milk mixture.

Get it into the frying pan.

Cook until the cheese is nice and melty.

In the mean time, get the fries ready by adding chopped garlic, parsley and Asiago cheese. Should be parm, but we only had Asiago cheese on hand.

Plate with some raspberry jam (didn't have any blackberry jam) and enjoy. Sure it was not battered and deep fried, but the taste was pretty much the same and not all the fuss of deep frying.

So glad they opened the vault.

Hey Rick,

The normal recipe calls for the sandwich to be dipped in a batter and deep fried. Too much trouble when you can dip like French toast and fry.

Thanks George. The brethren certainly made me think outside the box. A lot of creative people on this site.
