For some reason, I'm not able to find oak chucks or splits in the Northern CA/Sacramento area. Unless I'm just missing them, I'm not seeing them the usual places like HD, Lowes, Walmart. Anyone see them around?

I buy my oak smoking wood from small firewood vendors on Craigslist. I use a Black and Decker Lopper to cut them into smaller pieces, then a Kindling Cracker to get them into the perfect size splits. It's a bit of work I don't mind at all, as I can cut them to the exact size I want.

I see a couple of listings in the Sac area you could check out:

It's not likely you'll find oak chunks or splits in a big box retail store in most parts of CA, if at all.

Home Depot in Folsom carries splits of hickory, Apple and cherry during the summer months. Large net bag over in grill section.

Lots of bbq supply places carry Lazzari chunks, so does Adams Meat in Folsom

I get most of my firewood at;

https://pak-save-firewood.business.site/

They typically have oak and almond with occasional fruit wood too.

The wood is not always entirely seasoned but they will let you pick through the piles and select your splits so I have always come home with well-seasoned splits at fair price.

I forgot to mention my local Smart & Final had seasoned oak splits sold in a small box. About $10 for about 12 splits.

Copy that! I’ve got a Smart and Final close by. I’ll check it out. Thanks.
