I keep buying lighters and they all seem to be junk. Does anyone have one they like and feel it's pretty dependable? I'm talking about the candle lighter type thingys.

I haven't bought any in a long time but Bic were always good. Honestly I have been cheap and getting dollar store ones...not bad and if so not much $$ wasted.

I have some Kingsford ones that seem to be quite good and last a long time. Not sure if you can still get them.

I was gifted one of those expensive airlighters. Mostly use it to light starter cubes which is ridiculous, but it works.

Apparently you can still get the Kingsford lighters.

These are awesome, but hard to find in stores.

They sell a pack at SAMS that has 3 regular ones and one torch one...I just throw the 3 regular ones away.

I’m still working through the Sams 3 pack ^^^^ I bought several years ago. They’ve been great :thumb:

Might seem like overkill (is that even a problem?) I got tired of the wimpy flame from you basic lighter- would not light- click, click, shake, click. Get it lit, move to the paper under my chimney- and a gnat fart would blow it out. I got one of the small EverStart mini butane Torches from Wally's and it had never let me down. I could use it in gale wind- it don't care.

I bought this one (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007TTUN0C/?coliid=I22FRS0ODCYS6D&colid=3IYOXNEVHQ314&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it) a year and a half ago, still going strong. Dependable and easy to refill. Pop the safety latch off and it's click and burn :-D

Use similar one that I found at Academy. Holds up in any wind and lights quick. Haven't had any issues yet.

I've had the best luck with the Bic lighters. I always buy the brightest color, easier to find after a few beers.

I will use a BernzoMatic if it's really windy. I like the Oklahoma Joe fire starter things a lot.

Another vote for the small butane torches you can get at the hardware store. You can light up in a hurricane and the tank lasts forever, I'm on my 3rd season with one. Though, not exactly appropriate for lighting candles, the stick lighters I buy for my wife always seem to die after a few uses

I had a lighter last week with plenty of fuel but it wouldn't light. Ah, but the the trusty Bernzo trigger torch will get the job done.

Fast forward to this thread, and I figure there had to be a simple solution to these things. So I found the tube video below and it worked - all it takes is you've got to pull the trigger slowly so the fuel reaches the sparky spark thingy by the time it sparks. Either pull slowly or hold the trigger down if the first spark don't work.

Yeah I like the blue torch too. They perform great! Unfortunately I dropped a long one on its tip and it damaged something in the tip so they may be a little fragile but I liked it enough to replace with a new one.

I had a Zippo flex neck lighter I liked. Gave it to a friend and haven't replaced it yet: https://www.zippo.com/collections/utility

I should go back to carrying a standard Zippo. I think I still have a few USS Normandy and USS Nicholas Zippos. Wish I knew what happened to my USS Coral Sea Zippo - probably threw it away when I quit smoking back in 1992.

I use a torch as well, I'm not patient enough for anything else lol. It's also my go to repair tool when duck tape doesn't work.

Just wanna say that those cheap ones that are marked "wind resistant" actually do send out a little after-burner type flame that IS wind resistant. Sometimes I can find them for cheap at Ocean State Job Lot, a discount retailer in the Northeast.

ok... it's not exactly a lighter!
but it works great even in windy days

That is one of the ones I posted as well. For me I have only found the ones with the "torch flame" to actually work as advertised...I bet several brands have one with that type of burner. I actually could not believe it the first time I used it.
