View Full Version : Pellet grill griddle?

For those of you with griddles or pellet grills or even better both. I had planned on getting a 17" griddle, but the Rec Tec 590 offers a griddle that has decent size and would cost less money. Which is the best deal, get a separate griddle or just purchase the griddle accessory?

I had a Blackstone and gave it away. I thought it was really cool, but I didn't use it enough to justify the space it took. When you break it down it is really just a piece of metal that sits over a heat source. However, the grease drain on the Blackstone was pretty convenient. You might also factor in the cost of adding another fuel if you don't have anything else running off of propane tanks currently.

I use a lodge griddle or the flat side of grill grates in the PG.

I have this one now. The stand alone was quite messy. Cover faded-always a grease stain. Sold and bought this one. Stores easily. Sets up in less than a minute. Keep the top seasoned as it’s stored inside my SOB.
Not for everyone, but has worked well for the two of us.

I also have this and is perfect for the 2 of us! I gave my 36” to my nephew who uses it way more than I ever did.

This is a good idea, way cheaper than the griddle pan they sell with the pellet grill and you can't beat lodge's quality.

Adams, that's the exact one I have been eyeing. I looked at it the other day and was surprised (disappointed) to find out Blackstone is made in China.

I have the small Blackstone 17" and I'm not impressed with the uneven heat distribution.
I'll probably end up giving it away and just buying the Lodge griddle. If you're close to North Beach, MD and want it, let me know it's yours.

Anything I do with my flat top I can do with my vintage (made in USA)cast iron collection and often do on my patio. Guess I’ve had the 17” two years. The two burner Blackstone that was set up on patio 24/7 was there perhaps 4 years just guessing. As stated earlier I might use it several times, then store away and not think of it for weeks. In my world the compact size is perfect.

As for sourcing materials and manufacturing I try, but not 100%. If it’s politics hell most major American businesses and I have a great divide in beliefs.

Example currently nearby a Covid19 hotspot is JBS meat processing. It is a Brazilian owned company that employs immigrants from all over the world. I’m not going to quit eating meat.

I don’t have the answers to the worlds problems. Most of the time I cant figure out the question.

Perhaps once upon a time (outsourcing manufacturing)it could’ve been stopped.
Once upon a time

For whatever reasons I’ve turned into somewhat of a minimalist with cooking tools. The Griddle would work great

I like the Blackstone 17" and 22" but I'm not sure how much I would actually use them and I've never done a cook and said darn wish I had a table top griddle. When I see people do cooks on them like Mr Adams for example I think that would be nice to have but then I have to back to usage.

Fits nicely in the PG
