My name is Mike, aka FatCapDown, aka Tobacco_Nugget.

Been smoking / grilling meats on the ceramic style Kamado eggs for 47 yrs. I decided to make an account here to talk shop before I killed someone on Facebook. lol. (Yes, a joke)

Recent cooks include a prime grade 15lb brisket that was pure butter, several racks of ribs and tonight just got done with a leg of lamb. Just wanted to say hello and assure some folks I can and will help other eggers.

Can't speak to anything regarding other smokers really - except for the fire part. Fire is fire regardless of vessel but that's another topic. Hello world!

Welocme! You've come to the right place.

Former Charlottean here. Glad to have you with us.

I'm curious... you're known as Mike, FatCapDown, and TobaccoNugget... so where does "Charles" fit into the mix?

Kind regards from Out West.

With a name like tobacco_nugget, i am confused. Are you smoking while grilling, or smoking grilled foods?

Welcome to the Brethren Mike. That was a very nice introduction ( a lot of us share the same opinion of FB) and we look forward to hearing more from you and seeing your cook pics.

Welcome to the forum! I gave up Facebook two years ago and haven't looked back since. This forum helped me through the detox stage.

47 years!? wow. do you have like an average per week that you've been doing that? Did you smoke in the offseason as well all those years?

I have no idea what the average per week is but I know I've cooked a ton of food over the years. I cook year round. I've cooked and will continue to cook in the rain, sleet, snow, ice storms, thunderstorms, and a couple of hurricanes. True story.

Also, someone else asked about Tabacco_Nugget. That's a name I came up with for my cigar hobby. When a good cigar gets down to the nub but you don't want to put it down.......you got yourself a Tobacco nugget.

Hey Charles/Mike/FatCapDown,

You had me at Kamado for 47 years!!! You still using the same smoker?? That's the story and pictures I want to see. I have a 1978 BGE (instructions list Pachinko Palace address but booklet titled Big Green Egg.) Plus a kamado from the 60's but its never been used

Yes , no , yes. Lol. My step dad started me out on the older imperial kamado before BGE was even a company. In 1996, we upgraded to the Large BGE and I have been cooking on the BGE ever since.

However, I still have the Imperial Kamado. It's at a buddies house. He uses it and I use the BGE. I'd like to see that never used 60's kamado. :)

The kamados are cool to use. The unused Imperial was in a Atlanta GA museum, but its in storage now. If I can figure how to post pictures I will.
