In Kentucky we do burgoo. It's a hearty stew very popular in the fall and winter. You typically use three meats but I used four. Chicken. beef short ribs, fatty, and lamb ribs. About 5lbs total. I cooked the burgoo on the stove but the meats I did on my Shirley over the last couple months and froze them for burgoo day.
Two bags of frozen lima beans, bag of frozen corn, okra, bay leaves, onion, crushed tomatoes, garlic, 1qt beef broth, 1qt chicken broth. The meat went into the dutch oven and slow simmered for 3hrs, adding broth as it reduced. The veggies joined the sauna and went for another 1.5hr. They say if you cant stand a spoon in it then it ain't burgoo. Served with honey corn bread. Thanks for looking.

Heck yeah!! Looks and sounds a lot like Brunswick stew. No doubt, it's as good as. Very nice and timely for the weather change.

Sorry for the long read. All I want for Christmas is for someone to explain to me how to put text between the pictures.

Now you're bringing back memories. I grew up in West KY and burgoo was always cooked at town festivals and church picnics. My BIL used to cook it in a large cast iron pot over wood fire. Yours looks authentic and delicious!!
