Seems overpriced to me, but Iím not sure what a fair to good price should be.

Generally I use 50% of new as the target price for a used smoker.

However, a few factors could change that up or down. Condition, Age, Scarcity or Supply of smokers in your area.

If he bought it brand new and only used it 2 months, then decided he didn't like it....I'd say that would command a price closer to retail.

Base price = $1800
2 Piece Diffuser = $190
Fitted Cover = $123
Grill Grates = $90

Total = $2,203.

As far as I can tell this person is asking for $200 over the brand new price for a used smoker. I would imagine they paid roughly $200 for shipping, so that's probably why the price is high. If anything it gives them a good starting point because just about all buyers will try to haggle with them over the price.

About 5 years ago I bought Yoder's small offset smoker and the shipping was $500. The weight of that offset and the 640s are pretty close at ~300Lbs...so yeah, the seller is trying to get back everything they invested in the smoker. No way would I offer them that price though.

This fellow is selling a 2 month old, pretty much as new, YS640s.
The $2200 guess at the price in the previous post leaves out the guy has it on a competition cart which takes the price up another $500 bucks or so.

He's also got the new version cover. on it.

It looks like he's trying to get something pretty close to retail when you put in its the new version 640s instead of the 640, competition cart, and all the goodies.

What that means to the potential buyer is do you want to pay something close to retail for a cooker you could potentially go to a dealer and get brand new with warranty? I agree with the sentiments of many of the other brethren, when a cooker is used the value drops like a stone

I am selling mine in Athens, Ga

Guys I think I am going to sell my ya640. It was born 6-29-16. Has 2 thermometers on lid, and probe port on right side of pit. It has 1 piece diffuser plate, but I have never had temp above 275. Smoker has always been garage kept, and is in good shape. Can send more pics if interested. I am in Athens, GA. $1800 firm

I may have to rethink the price on mine. It is in very good condition, I have always vacuumed it after each use. I need to clean the outside up with some dish soap, but it look practically new. Always been garaged stored.

He is crazy thinking he will get that much for a used (although lightly) cooker.

Is that your on CL? I did some rough calculations and figure about $3200 new? And it is two months old, so I would consider 65-75%, which is $2100 - $2400.

I don't know about crazy, but, he's certainly wildly optimistic. I think some folks shoot a trial balloon like that just to see if there's someone who will jump on it without doing their homework.

But, on Craig's List? An item in that price range on CL will struggle I would think. CL is the mecca of $10 smokers and $5 couches and furniture.

I love my YS640. I have no idea if I needed to sell it what the price tag would be. But it wouldn't be up there like that and mine is every bit as snazzy.

No, I donít hVe mine on Craigslist. I just listed it on some Yoder facebook sites. I just bought a deep south GC28, and trying to make some money back. The Yoder is a great cooker though.

I like the idea of having a Yoder, but I just bought my Lousiana Grills and I can't say I really have many complaints with it. They seem like a lot of money. I'd probably do it for half of what he's looking for.

Also @chrischandler71 it looks like yours has a different control board than the one on CL, not sure what the differences are and if that would factor in to pricing at all.

That appears to be the new version of the YS640 with the new controller which has a six to eight week wait time right now, plus no shipping or sales tax added. I think it's pretty close to where it will sell.

Go to All Things BBQ and do the math. Ron L is correct 3200-3500 not including tax and freight which could go another 500 to 700 more. Very good buy if you can pick it up IMHO

Yea, I thought mine was a good buy. I am sure I have 3000.00 in the cooker. It started out at 2400 before any add in’s and shipping

Yeah I think 2400 is a pretty solid price on that since it’s the new controller. I paid 1800 for my 2014 a few months ago. No ACS controller or solid steel shelves and the old cover. Plus it was 5 years old.

He also has the stainless steel shelves which add $210 to the price. Which brings the price to $2,410. So, he's eating $10 + shipping costs. :becky:

Based on the picture of the interior, I don't think he cooked much on it and it looks like there is some rust building up on the cooking surfaces.

If you can't wait for one to be built and delivered, this might be a good alternative. I wonder if this guy is willing to haggle on the price.

The base price of this unit is $2399 with stainless shelves. Those numbers posted were of the old style unit.

$2400 + cover + diffuser + tax and shipping puts at $3k or a little over depending on how much freight was

No Thanks.
Too much.
And does not look "Like New" to me. Looks rode hard and put up wet.

I'd buy new, and be happy.

Yeah, I botched the numbers and didn't even realize it was on a competition cart. If someone wanted one of these things now, rather than a few months down the road, it's really not a bad deal to be honest.
