We live in a town with a lot of hills. It's hard to find property that is reasonably priced that isn't located on the side of a hill. This project took most of my summer to complete.
When we started we didn't even have stairs coming off of the back deck. I have a new LSG 20x42 that is currently being built that is going to sit where the UDS is now.
Before, I had to lower my offset with a winch out of my garage. I always had people stopping and making well intended comments when I was out front (there is a stop sign right in front of my property). It's going to be nice to be in a peaceful area in the back yard. I was originally going to get one of LSG's offset cabinets. The lower weight of the 20x42 just makes it easier to get back there. The path to the back is grass and uphill. didn't want to try and get a 1000+ pound smoker back there.
I did all of the wall and paver work but had a contractor build the stairs. This was my first time working on a project like this. Some mistakes were made but overall it came out pretty good. I would have liked to dig a couple more feet into the hill but we didn't want to get into the root system of a dogwood and an oak tree that provide a lot shade and privacy for us.
