Just picked up the 26 with the roti ring a week ago.

Snagged this basket and motor today for $25.

Now I’ve been watching this Caja cooker for a week. Dang for $125 it’s a steal. But I have no need. But it’s cool.

By the way. Anyone got a couch I can sleep on?

As long as you bring the cookers Joel you can have your own room.

As long as you’re cooking the wings.

around two weeks ago, I think, somebody in Florida IIRC was having a 125# pig and the roaster to cook it in delivered for a party he had planned. He was looking for input on cooktimes. There were some questions about what type of roaster, if the weight given was live weight or butchered, etc., ---- and I have not seen an account of the cook, the roaster, or the results since. I assumed this was the type roaster he was renting. Maybe he could offer some words of wisdom?

You could probably sleep in the La Caja China if it came down to it :thumb:

I had one of those several years ago, did one pig with it and it worked great. I ended up selling it after realizing I probably wouldnt do whole pigs very often and it did take up a fair amount of space.

Yeah, that’s my current assessment. I’ve never done a whole hog and don’t think it’s likely I will any time soon.

But it’s cool. And only $125.

I’ve been eying their stainless steel Caja. Let me know how yours go. My major concern was lack of smoke flavor since the cooking area is getting indirect heat?

If your wife does kill you, can I have your 26 roti setup? I’ve been eyeing that for awhile now. I already have a 26’er so another brother may want to hurry up and claim that before it’s gone... lol.

Same here. It would make me get rid of my 22

Yeah...there's basically none. It's a roaster and the cooking chamber is basically sealed off from the outside where the fire is burning. It is still delicious, but it won't be like what you'd get from direct over coals or indirect on a smoker. It's more radiant heat than indirect, even.

I saw that Caja China last week and was thinking about it. I did not know when I would use it so I passed. Just looked it up and it was gone. Did you end up getting it?

Nope. It’s a cool thought but i don’t really have a use.

You can use it for other large animals like turkey too. Think of the capacity for Thanksgiving!

I think I might do a turkey on the 26 rotisserie this year!

No better way to do a turkey IMO - we do one every year even if we are going somewhere else for Thanksgiving.
