Playing around with the Blackstone and today's experiment was Shrimp Fried Rice. I've made this before out on the Wok on the Keg, which takes a bit of waiting for temps to come up and juggling food in and out of the wok. The Blackstone makes this so much easier.

I made the rice yesterday in the rice cooker. Set out all the ingredients and we're ready to go. Rice, shrimp, pea pods, carrots, celery, red pepper, green onion, egg. The usual Soy Sauce and Oyster Sauce. The one thing I forgot was garlic, but it didn't seem to matter. Probably not the most traditional ingredients for fried rice, but hey, it's my fried rice.

I didn't really think about making dinner today since the Mrs is out for the afternoon. Nothing wrong with a bowl of Shrimp Fried Rice. She'll enjoy it when she gets home later.

Not the most earth shattering cook, but it was a lot of fun to make. I'm having a blast with this griddle!

Thanks for checking out this post.

Crepes are definitely on my bucket list as well. I've been watching Blackstone videos and need a morning to fit these in (actually, any time will do). One thing I needed however was a crepe spreader.

I searched Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and Walmart for one, no dice. I didn't need all the extra gadgets that come with the official Blackstone Crepe kit. And I was darned if I was going to pay $16 for one from amazon. Heck, it's 2 dowels glued together at 90 degrees!

So, I headed down into the wood shop, found some dowels from a past project, cut 'em to length, drilled a hole using the drill press and voila - a crepe spreader!

It took all of 15 minutes to make. I may put some cutting board oil on it if needed, but I suspect it will do fine as is.

Marty, it's funny that Chef John just posted a fortune cookie recipe yesterday. Another item for my bucket list.

I don’t have the least idea what the traditional ingredients are but those’ll work for me.

My wife found a clearance set that had one...and a thin crepe flipper too. Even bought pie filling and never did it.
