I really would like to add a fryer to my arsenal. I would do mostly chicken and some catfish from time to time. Thinking since I won’t use it THAT often a counter top that I can put away after use might be the ticket. It will be used outside under my cooking area, Just can’t stand getting grease in the kitchen (i’ve gotten so used to cooking outside!!! go figure). I’ll hang up and listen. Thanks in advance ...

I threw out my deep fryer, after I bought an induction burner. A cast iron dutch oven, on induction, is much better than the counter top fryers, and much more versatile too.

This is what I bought (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072QZXC7K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It's a decent size for me. Fits nicely on the counter top and all the parts come out of the base for easy cleanup. I'm very happy with it.

Oh a cast iron dutch oven is the way to go for taste, I’’m just looking for something a little easier and quicker. I’ll use it outside on my cooking area but since I don’t have many folks to cook for anymore just trying to simplify. I have never seen an induction burner.....I’ll check into that.

With induction you get the precise temp control you need for frying, plus you can use any magnetic pan on it, so you can use the size pan you need at the time. It also will hold simmering temps for things like beans. IMO, way better than a deep fryer.

I second the Dutch oven method. That’s my go to for fried chicken. But I find myself using this unit (https://www.t-falusa.com/Kitchen-appliances/Fryers/Ultimate-EZ-Clean-Fryer/p/7211001726) more and more because the clean up is so easy. You can remove the oil bin and put it away.

I'm wondering if you want an oil type, or maybe an air fryer type.

I had a deep fat fryer for a while. We wound up giving it to our British friends for Fish and Chips. IIRC it was a Hamilton Beach I grabbed at an outlet store.

Now we have a Power Air Fryer (https://www.target.com/p/as-seen-on-tv-5-3qt-digital-power-air-fryer-xl/-/A-52533007) And love the chicken we can make in it.

But the wife decided she wanted an Emeril Lagasse Countertop (https://www.amazon.com/Emeril-Lagasse-Power-360-Convection/dp/B07NLHMYH4) unit. (The link is Amazon, but she got ours from TV)
Both do chicken really good.

I like to smoke my chicken for a couple of hours, then Air Fry it so it gets crispy.

Size wise, and for versatility, I like the Emeril unit. But have limited experience with it.
The Power Air Fryer does great cabin fries. So I'm leaning towards keeping both.

I use this one. Replaced my Waring fryer which was the same design. Works well, easy to clean.

Went through this same dilemma recently, but since I already had multiple Dutch oven and other pots I decided to keep those and just a natural gas wok burner for outside.

I'm going to check out that induction burner though.

That looks nice. Do you know how many cups/qt's it holds? No info on amazon that I could find.
Never mind, the info is in the video. 6 qts.

That's the one I have too. Made everything from wings and potato chips to pickles, ice cream and donuts. Super easy to clean, the temp control is pretty spot on, and it was pretty cheap. We've also used it as a steamer.
