I payed extra for the 4 year warranty because if read so many bad things about how this thing came to reality. Anyway, I plan to use this thing for rotisserie only. No more then 400F. (It says it can handle 525F ish). Says the 2 unit bundle is WiFi. Can anyone confirm this? I am not seeing this bundle on Meater's website. I bought from amazon and it clearly states bluetooth and WiFi.

This sounds very odd. The only Meater that supports Wifi is the Meater block and is is delayed for new production and is not sold on Amazon. Can you link to what you purchased?

Edit:
Ugh - what have they done. I see what you purchased, they are doing a really poor job with their marketing now. The Meater+ does *NOT* support Wifi. It works exclusively via Bluetooth:
https://support.meater.com/faqs?device=meater-plus&faq=does-meater-use-wifi

They are saying it "Supports Wifi" because it can repeat via a device running the Meater app. The Meater+ is designed to communicate as follows:
Meater (BLE) -> Meater+ (BLE) -> Phone/Tablet running Meater app

Once the Meater app has the signal, it can then be redistributed via Wifi (Meater Cloud/Meater Link) or cellular to the Meater Cloud.

Does that make sense?

TLDR: The Meater+ will NOT connect directly to your Wifi network.

Looks cool.
But I shy away from complicated things.

And i cancelled the order. It was obviously a misleading scam. Apparently you need two smart phones to use one to connect as bluetooth, then the app acts as a server on that phone so it can connect to another phone via wifi.

A word of warning, this is the Meater and not the Meater+. Anyone looking to use this, buy the Meater+:
https://www.amazon.com/MEATER-Thermometer-Rotisserie-Bluetooth-Connectivity/dp/B07H8WTFHW

The Meater+ acts as a bluetooth repeater to your phone/tablet. Without it, you must have a phone/tablet within direct range of the probe and your grill does a great job of blocking RF, so it needs to be very close usually. With the Meater+, you can put the probe in your food/grill, the Meater+ wood block just outside of the grill (has a magnetic backing), and then your phone/tablet can pick it up from a decent distance from there.

Bingo, you got it. This version you just cancelled is the Meater too, not the Meater+. See my response above regarding this. I'm a long time backer/follower of the original Kickstarter. I own a number of Meater+, they are awesome. Avoid the non+ at all costs. You either want a Meater+ or a Meater Block and the Meater Block is not in full release right now...so your only option is Meater+.

Pro tip: A cheap Kindle tablet can act as your bluetooth to wifi bridge and you can then get it from other device/cloud. This is exactly how I do it. It is game changing to not have wires everywhere.

Yeah, i had a feeling it was too good to be true. I think i am just going to buy a high end instant read thin tip thermometer. I have various temp probes including a igrill3 4 probe, and a fireboard 6 probe extreme, but i dont have a high end instant read.

Any recomendations?

Thermapen is the flagship. I have a Super Thermapen and an MK4. Love both of them. They use a thermocouple instead of a thermistor like a lot of slower/cheap ones. Lavatools Javelin PRO Duo is a good alternative for a bit less than the MK4.

I'd avoid the Lavatools PT12, it is cheaper and does work but the probe is very short. There are a few other chinese clones of the Thermapen on Amazon, some better than others.

Javelin PRO: https://www.amazon.com/Lavatools-Javelin-Ambidextrous-Thermometer-Chipotle/dp/B01F59K0KA/

Thermoworks happens to be running the MK4 on sale right now (gray): https://www.thermoworks.com/Thermapen-Mk4?quantity=1&color=1

I just bought a Thermapen MK4 in grey (was 25% off grey). cant complain about 2-3 second read. I am sure i can stop the rotisserie for 2-3 seconds.

That first one on Amazon is sold by Apption, so if it is misleading, it's the Meater people marketing it. Not a good sign IMO.

Agreed. No question it is Apption, I don’t know why they are doing this. They had a horrible launch but in the end, the Meater is awesome if you understand what it can and cannot do. They need to get the Block done and in mass production so they can have a real wifi offerint.

Love my meater. I use it all the time and it has worked flawlessly so far. Either get the meater + or have an extra smart device to work as a bridge. Have one of those, and the meater has endless range.

Yep, it is awesome. Really too bad it had such a bad launch, if it somehow got funded differently and came to market on time, it wouldn’t have this black cloud overhead. Hopefully they redeem themselves.

I've been happy with my Meater Block also. Has been working flawlessly either wifi or standalone mode.

Pretty impressed since I never thought I'd receive mine and if I did receive, it would actually work. I was wrong on both counts.

Used it over the weekend actually.
