Hey guys, I tried building the following injector build: https://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147045

The build was going great until I tried to thread the compression adapter onto the garden sprayer --- no luck whatsoever on 10-15 different sprayers. No matter what, it refuses to start threading, and any force of course just starts destroying them.

I'm wondering what I could be doing wrong, or if perhaps something in the design has changed.

Has anyone tried building one of these injectors recently, and did you have any issues?

The pic isnt great but the nozzle on this is brass168710

Just did a google search...looks like Menards stocks them for $4.99 even got a $.55 rebate so $4.44.

I bought that same sprayer at Lowes for 5ish dollars. I am still using a Zep blue/yellow spray bottle, but i plan to use the chapin on my next cook. Is the spray pattern any better? The Zep seems to spray really wide with nothing in the center like a donut, unless i open it up so it sprays like a jet. Seems there is no happy mist medium.

couldnt tell you i used this for aphid control and it corroded the nozzle. The OP was trying to make a modified injector so it seems to me that the brass fitting would aid in getting proper sealing with the other components he had sourced.

I found some info on an Amazon page for a Chapin replacement brass nozzle. "The nozzle has a ¼-18 NSPM thread". See if you can find one with that thread.

I realize there were lots of jokes in the original thread, but many of the injections are acidic. I would be weary of using non food grade plastic with acidic injections.

Well, that is true but, the manufacturers of these sprayers did not spend the $$ on testing to get the material certified as "food grade" because the product is being sold for garden use. So... the plastic used may or may not be suitable. In most cases, it probably is. It just has not been certified as such by the FDA, et al.

Ummmm.... if it's that acidic you don't want to inject it in the first place.

It's a polyethylene body on the sprayer. Same thing milk jugs, drink bottles (clear version), home water pipes and cutting boards are made from.
