So this thanksgiving, i'm going to take advantage of my Assassin 24 and do 300 lunches of protein for homeless/needy, over the last few months i've seen bone in down to .99 and bought some for myself. How many pounds you think is a good guestimate that i will need? I was thinking about 100-110 pounds. I realize it'll cook down to 50%, Maybe 120 to be safe?

With 300 people, probably with healthy appetites... in my opinion 1/3lb per person would be reasonable. In order to do that, you’d need 100lbs of finished product. In my experience, I’d say 150-160lbs of raw pork butt would be about right.

I cooked 12 bone in butts earlier in the year for my brother's wedding and tracked the pre and post weights, it was right at 50% yield average across all 12. I'd start with 200lbs raw if you're wanting 1/3lb per person x 300 servings.
