How many rubs are too many? I'm currently at 16 different rubs mainly for ribs plus more coming soon.

I keep SPOG in the freezer all the time. Other than certain meats, it's great for salads, soups, vegetables, greens and a slew of other things. In additions I have ONE basic rub. I will add salt to some things, brown sugar to others, ketchup to some. I guess all of these could be considered different recipes, but even with that, the total would only be about ten.

I guess I may be a little short sighted, but everyone seems to like the food so what the hell.

I have more than couple of dozen and I use them all, I think if I really tried I could cut it down to half that but it would be tough.

Really no need for more than 2 or 3.

Sitting on more than enough. The wifey doesnt understand.

I think the problem that I’m sure most of us have is when you see a new one you have to try it. There might always be something better or a flavor profile you like.

The longer I cook, the less I rely on a large number of rubs. I use one commercially available rub, most of the time, but often just go with SPG. Sometimes with a little cayenne pepper thrown in.

I did a pulled pork with just pepper and garlic, omitting the salt (one of my family members can't have salt). Turned out to be one of my best.

Mostly I pay a lot of attention to the quality of my smoke, temp, and pull when the color is right. Wrap and finish sans smoke.

It doesn't matter how many you have, as long as you use them....

I also have a small collection of rubs that I use as requested for specific cooks...

Has anyone tried Hardcore Carnivore Black seasoning on brisket? I’m wondering how it does on a long smoke, as well as it’s flavor profile.

What about plate ribs?

I am tempted by John Henry Wild Cherry Chipotle, they have it at the local Rural King and I've read good things about it here...
I mix my own for each cook, except Cavender's Greek, which is my go to for chicken.

My count is under 10. I just got some Charlie Vergos Rendezvous seasoning today. I really like it.

My question is, are you married? If so, your wife will definitely let you know when it gets to be too much.

I read on the interweb that 15 is way too many for any one human being.
