I have been working on a UDS here and there for a couple of weeks. It's finally finished so I decided to smoke some chicken thighs for it's first run. I am happy with how it worked and turned out. My lid does leak smoke a little bit.
After they were done in the UDS, I threw them on the grill to sear the skin. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180611/e8e2a660eeda8e29f8c13d78185de0c0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180611/6288def83c0e39246d0cc5971458ea11.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180611/a43e2ca4c14de40b9235c98451c397a6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180611/82b1bb310c91c2de4145bf0541d1b9de.jpg

Looks great. Dont worry about that leak. Enough soot and it will eventually seal up. Even if it doesn't it's an overblown pet peeve, imo. Nice work.

congrats on building a winning cooker.

put something heavy on the lid and that will reduce or eliminate the leaking

I'm pretty new to the whole smoking thing, so your support is great. Thank you all.

Great looking cooker and cook and as said above the lid will seal up after a few cooks, plus smoke has to go somewhere and if your temp control is where you want it you're golden.

Great looking drum, you should get many years of great cooks from that!
