I wonder if you could do them. Goetta is a supposedly German sausage made with oats. Kind of like a naked haggis - no sheep's bladder. Very popular here in Cincinnati, but a bit of an acquired taste unless you grew up with it. I have learned to love it, like Cincinnati chili.

Anybody ever tried?

Guess you could throw in a chub of Gliers and see what happens.

We like our goetta sliced thin and fried crispy so I never thought of smoking it.

Naked Haggis... I think I just found the title of my sex tape! :-P

I do love me some haggis. Fried Haggis and eggs makes an excellent breakfast.

Now that being said, I'm thinking that part of the appeal is that the rendered fat helps to crisp the starch in the product. Something that will be lacking in a smoked fatty. Not sure how good it would be fresh off the smoker but I could see it being great fried in a pan with some extra fat afterwards.
