Backwoods or Lonestar smokers are my Fav. Oh yea, Humphries is also very good.

Sorry not much help, it's all in what you want. Because in the end who cares what people like. It's what you like..

I find the rf cabinet easier to run and easier to dial in smoke flavor. Also only 1 mildly hotter rack on the cabinet vs 25-75 degree hotter rack on the GF. Don't have to load more wood in the cabinet during the cook. But if you need to add more fuel the GF is easier. In my limited GF experience I find the smoke to be really light where the cabinet is more similar to my stick burners. I don't think my GF skills are up to par yet so that may be user error.

Bigger Footprint and Weight to a gravity fed vs a inualted cabinet of equal construction.

An RF IVC is the way to go in my opinion. If you get the right one adding fuel or wood during a cook is of no concern as mine has roughly a 40 hour burn time. GF also have a tendency to run hot on the bottom racks with my RF IVC I can get zero degree differential from top to bottom but I can create a hot zone if I wish on top by manipulating the damper on the stack.

on the reverse flow on a cabinet smoker so it vents up inside the back walls and then back down and exits at the bottom inside the cabinet ?

Most are like this. Some use holes at the top and some leave open slots. Hopefully you can see it all in this pic. The dark spots are from where they welded on the other side.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180603/2dbae7f29c81d147c9adb4e3a31a96c8.jpg

Like others have siad Most Gravity fed are Hotter on bottom rack. Varies with each Brand/Size and how Hot they Run. I got Mine down to 15* difference Top to Bottom Empty but once meat went on the middle and top grates the temp difference went up to 40* then slowly came back down to 20* as cook Went On.......
