View Full Version : Memorial Day cook

I hosted a big bbq party on Saturday and had to run into Kroger on Friday night to get a few last minute things. That was a fairly uneventful pork butt cook. Turned out great but I was hosting a big party so I didn't take any pics.

However on that last minute Kroger run they had tomahawk steaks in the butcher case. I have never seen them available locally and it looked pretty awesome so I couldn't resist. It ended up being tonight's dinner, and since it was just the family I was able to get a few pics while putting dinner together.

Everything was fantastic and I simply must cook this more often. Reverse sear giant steak is a win for sure. Plus my 2 year ild cracks me up cleaning off the bone (daddy got first crack at it!)

Cowboy ribeyes are my favorite...they taste good, look impressive to guests, and the bone is fun to gnaw on....what's not to like??

Very nice but what was in the tin foil package?

Based on the potatoes in the foil, I'm going with potatoes :thumb: :-P

I'll be here all night folks. But the first pic does kinda look like STL spareribs lol.

Alright Suds I guess I deserve that. Teach me to look a little closer at the pics before I let my fingers do the walking.

Yeah the foil pouch potatoes are pretty much a staple for us in the summer time. Potatoes, butter, garlic, onions, some herbs, wrap it all up and have some good stuff without dirtying any dishes. Add in the fact that our new home doesn't have AC and it makes it extra nice when it's hot out to do ALL of the cooking outside! :)
