I would guess yes. Chipotles are smoked red jalapenos. Look at the ingredients for the chipotle powder, or chipotle chili (chile) powder, it should just contain ground chipotle (or ground smoked red jalapeno).

If it says "chili" I would say it has other spices added. If it says "Chile", it is probably ground chipotles. Look at the ingredients. It's not something I can normally buy at my local store. You might see if they have whole dried chipotles, and grind them. They seem to be easier to find locally, for some reason.

I honesty dont know about the powder but McCormick makes a Chipotle Black Pepper seasoning. It has ground chipotle pepper, black pepper, and brown mustard seed. It's very good and my go-to source when I need chipotle.

I mix my own chilie powder for maximum flavor. Personally I find chipotle from the store to be dull and lacking in flavor.

Here is where I purchase my chipotle powder.

Morita peppers are a red-ripe jalapeno pepper that has been smoked, but the main difference is that dried Morita chile pepper is smoked for less time, leaving it softer and allowing it to retain it's subtile fruity flavor.

Have you tried their Chimayo blend? I am curious about it. I have Chimayo heirloom powder, but it’s very expensive. It is easily the best red Chile flavor to me. I am curious if the blend with hatch red would be similar enough.

I make my own. Just grow a couple of jalapeno plants leave the peppers on till they ripen and dry them in the smoker. Then grind them in a coffee grinder. Best and freshest pepper powders you can get
