View Full Version : Fired up! Seasoned my 30x90 Shirley today

I went from a 30x75 to a 30x90. I moved from 1/4" to 3/8" firebox and in doing so, Im seeing no increase in wood consumption. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbh7E1mWCjc

I wouldn't expect an increase with an extra 15". I went from a 24x36 tradition door single grate to a 24x55 straight back with 4 grates with insulated fb and didn't see any increase in wood use. I actually use smaller sticks. That's a beast!

She is going out on her maiden cook this weekend. A couple of 17 pound briskets, 6 pork butts, probably 8 racks of ribs and 30 chicken thighs.


That is one beautiful pit! Enjoy the heck out of that! Can't wait to see some of the fine food you will produce on that thing.
