Looking for suggestions on cold smoking in my WSM. It is my intention to get an Amazen pellet smoker, but I don't have one now. What I have done in the past is light a few briquettes, put them in a coffee can that I punctured for air flow, and put a wood chunk on top of the coals. I do have some pellets now, any thoughts on jury rigging a pellet smoker, or should I stick with chunks for now?

I use the A-maze-n pellet tube and it works just fine

Sounds like your single briquette with pellets might work.

I also use the A-Maze-N pellet smoker. It easy and painless, and I can get 10 hours of cold smoke out of the maze. easy-peasy....

An old pie tin or a vessel shaped like an old pie tin shaped out of triple HD foil to hold the pellets or chips.Place a few lit briqs in the cooker and put the chips/pellets on top of them.If they( the briqs) burn out,just add a few more lit ones underneath the chips/pellets til you are done.

The pellets work fine. I cold smoke in my Weber Kettle without any problems.

Have a look at the proQ cold smoke generator.
Works with sawdust and works an absolute dream
