I decided to go ahead and buy a Woodhaven 8 ft 1/2 cord rack instead of buying one and must say it is very heavy duty. Had a load of Oak & Hickory delivered which ended up containing 72 pieces of Walnut. Did some research and learned Walnut is not ideal for smoking. Luckily supplier is close and they exchanged for Oak & Hickory. The wood is green and knew that going in - had to get some seasoning to feed the Shirley long term. I used my Kindling Cracker to split a few pieces and they are green for sure as shown. I split the piece shown and it has a lot of moisture. The Kindling Cracker is an awesome tool if you need to make splits smaller. www.kindlingcracker.com

Have a great Saturday 😎

When I post from IPhone it tends to turn pics sideways - not sure why.

I ordered from Amazon but here is manufacturers specs:

Good move OP for getting rid of that Walnut, it is nasty stuff, and also for splitting
some smaller.

Will the Kindling Cracker cut splits? Or just small pieces of kindling?

Click on the link, and look at the pics. Won't cut a huge split.
Very impressive.

EDIT - looks like it's 6.5 inches inside diameter.
They should make a bigger one.

Half cord is 4x4x4 or 64 cubic feet

KC will split splits length wise.

Thanks for the link to that kindling cracker...I just split a bunch of green hickory with an axe today and it was a lot of work. I would feel safer using one of those things!

Funny thing is, the Boy Scouts teach to slam an axe into the top of a split,
then turn it around and bang the split to hit the axe / wedge upside down.
That's alot more work than this.

I bought my kindling cracker before the lager size came out. I really like mine, but I'd be a little cautious with the big one. I'm 72 years old and the little one is enough for me.

When you take your pictures, are you holding your phone straight up and down or holding it sideways??

Pat - to be honest I don't remember how I held it. Is there a certain way - normal or sideways to prevent pictures not showing up correctly when posted here?

Thanks,

Mark
