Has anyone tried Bear Mountain pellets? I was just wondering if they are a decent quality.

if these are what you are talking about, I wouldn't cook with them. Says they are made out of douglas fir and red cedar. Not flavors I would want in my food.

Found these too, which is probably what you are asking about. I still wouldn't buy them. They are a mix of alder wood and other types of wood. Doesn't say the percentages though, so I am guessing mostly alder. That would be fine to smoke with, but it is going to give you a light smoke flavor. I haven't used alder, I think it is mainly used for fish. Looks like for the price you could get lumberjack or cookingpellets and they are not blended. But I guess it would depend on what you are going to cook with them.

I like to buy fairly large (for me) quantities of pellets so I stick to known quality brands...

I'd hate to have several hundred Lbs. of pellets sitting around that didn't taste good, made too much ash or had a low btu.

X2. Lumberjack 100% hickory is what I use. Myself, my brother and a neighbor go in on a full ton.

I agree with using Lumber Jack. I also just recently bought some from Grilla Grills to try out. I had heard some good things about the flavor and wanted to give them a try. I'll give them a go on my next cook.

I’ve heard of them but don’t have any experience.

Walmart and academy sells rebranded BBQr’s Delight (B&B) pellets and I get them for 11.72 for a 20lb bag

When i lived in the PNW, i would buy those all the time!

To the O.P., There is absolutely nothing wrong with them, and yes they do give a good smoke flavor.
