My bubba grills 250 rib box will be delivered Friday. So I'll be seasoning it on Sat.
I did a search, and noticed some spray/coat the inside as well as the outside of the pit with Pam or whatever they prefer.
Is there any benefit to spraying the outside of the pit?

I've only ever coated the inside of my grills or smokers. The outside should be plenty protected by the powder coat or enamel coating.

What about WD40 or some other spray to prevent rust?

I'm assuming your speaking of the outside of your cooker. I won't be using WD40 anywhere close to food.
As for the outside, I think I'd be using Rustoleum or some high temp spray paint. WD40 is a light weight lubricant wholly unsuited for temps encountered in a smoker. It would evaporate in short order. Just my experience with WD40.

The rig is painted with high temp paint. I figured the paint would seal the metal and coating the outside wouldn't really do anything.

spray the inside with pam and leave the outside alone and I would never spray anything on the outside of a smoker but paint . try and repaint it someday if you haft to , lol and I used to be a automotive painter .

I've seen lots of suggestions to use food grade mineral oil on the outside. Season it like a cast iron pan and keep it from rusting.

Did he paint it with high temp paint? If so, it probably needs to be cured before getting too crazy. Keep the temps super low for 6-8 hours and you should all set. As for the inside, just spray everything on he inside down with oil. I just used spray canola from Costco.

I've seen these suggestions as well, but have wondered if things like mineral oil/peanut oil, etc., are actually effective or useful on external surfaces that are already covered with high-temp paint/powder coating. Seems it might be logical on bare steel, but on top of paint? :noidea:

Yes it is painted with high temp paint. Believe it was painted early last week.

Haven't received the pit yet. Lonnie said there will be instructions with the pit.
I happened to see a few posts and videos online where people coated the outside also
Figured I'd ask here what their thoughts are on this.

Lots of people spray it with oil once the paint has burnt off. Seasons like cast iron. I dont see why you would do this over paint but once the paint is gone this is a good way to maintain and protect from rust

Understood......that's gonna be an awesome pit capable of some serious payloads.
