I hadn't used the grill all winter, but it's not like I didn't have the lid on the thing - when it got to be nice grilling weather, I fired her up, but couldn't budge the bottom vents. So I finally cleaned the thing out and here's what I found:

Man, what a bummer! Grill's three years old and I absolutely love it. But now the thing is still 300 degrees two hours after dinner. Should I just take a grinder to this thing to try to get the bad parts off and replace?

Many thanks, all!!

spay it with WD-40 and let it soak over night , tomorrow work it lose and the fire it up with no food and burn it out . also if you leave ash in the bottom and gets wet , that is the worst thing you can do to a grill and the ash will rot metal out fast .

Mine had a screw in the middle holding the blades in. It rusted and twisted off when I tried to unscrew it to replace the blades, so I drilled the rest of the screw out and replaced the blades. Replacement blades are cheap.

Yep, that is a classic case of Weber Winter Revenge. Typically a behavioral problem with a Weber that is feeling neglected. What it is really saying to you, is that if you don't use me regularly, even through the winter, I will unleash the Wusty Weber curse.

Ash and moisture are very corrosive. Keep that Weber fired up regularly, and you both will be happier.

A few drops of Kroil will loosen it up in just a few minutes.

Glad it translated. Wonder how many will now Google to see who Elmer Fudd was?
