Anyone have any experience with custom griddles and how far from the burner/flame it should be? I have a welder buddy who is going to make me one to put over one of the big Propane burners on my Klose Caterer. Im thinking of a round one like the MOJOe griddle. It will only be one round burner.

Part of your answer will be determined by how many BTU your burner burns. I made one with a 60,000 BTU burner , and have it 5"-6" from the burner. I try to run mine around 1/4 throttle... I have a round Griddle (Approx. 15") that fit my stand perfectly..., and a 18" Discada that I use on this burner. It goes fishing & hunting with me. I made a 9" plate steel Deflector out of 1/2" steel that I can put over my burner and it increases the temp. area and pretty much does away with hot spots. Makes it easier to cook things like Eggs at lower temps.
