My original Weber Kettle ('92 vintage) -3 wheeler (3 lower vents)
has sadly passed away. I'm gonna miss her -
she was... the .. first..... girl.. I.....
(for smoking that is!)

Like new medicine, I've amputated the legs and
have given new life to an abandoned bowl I found at a rental house.
(2010 vintage, all nice racks, etc.) .
The new grill is going to a friend with a bag of King Comp charcoal.
I hope they use it as they
really enjoy my stuff when I give it to them!

Today was garbage day, and.. I did not put the old bowl on the curb.
Right now I'm thinking "Planter!"

Too soon to let her go?

Too soon to let her go?Photobucket is down for me now but if you had seen the
beautiful food it made, and it cost me $10 at Goodwill, you'd salivate,
appreciate, levitate, and maybe mas - hey hold on!
Or maybe someone wants the vents?? Doubtful, you can buy them.
A Planter it will be, I'm reckoning!
MY WIFE WILL BE THRILLED! (no way jose)

note the therm in one of the holes.....(previous pic)
Here I cut a sheet pan and piled coals on one side, couple of chunks of cherry,
lit 12 new coals, poured them on (flip grate) and let it ride........

"sniff" bye-bye..

A sliver of an open crack in one damper Under the fire,
the other 2 wheels closed.
The meat opposite the fire,
the lid vent over the meat open full.
Let the smoke roll over the meat.

Three Wheelers really were awesome.
My UDS replaces it, basically. Except the curves.....

I am sorry for your loss.

My original kettle is sitting in the garage. It is in rough shape but I can't part with it. I got it in the early 80's, I think.

I would bring mine in to work and have the guys weld in some reinforcements. Was better then ever.

A sad day, indeed. If you get shot down on the planter, at least save that wood handle. They're so much better than the newer ones.

I feel for you. I have two daisy wheel kettles, a 1979 and a 1993 . I don't know what I'll do when they are gone. Still using the original grates, even. I've used newer kettles, it's just harder to maintain the lower temperatures without taping off two of the slits.
